In the Christmas bakery... Cook our Christmas apple bread very easily!
Here at REDUCE Gesundheitsresort in Bad Tatzmannsdorf, top chefs are in their element. They pamper the guests with culinary flights of fancy that put a full smile on everyone's lips. Both lovers:inside of classic, down-to-earth meat dishes, as well as vegan:inside. And every year in Advent, the kitchen is transformed into a Christmas bakery, and everywhere you go there is a wonderful smell of gingerbread, cloves and cinnamon. To sweeten the time until Christmas, we have put together a recipe for a traditional Christmas treat from southern Burgenland.Â
Did you know that many Christmas delicacies do not require milk, eggs or butter? A glance at the recipes for classic Christmas cookies reveals that shortbread-based cookies in particular are made without eggs anyway, and usually without milk as well. Only the butter needs to be replaced in equal parts by a vegetable alternative. And even the traditional apple bread is vegan by design. So no animal has to suffer for the ingredients of the Christmas baked goods for the feast of love. Another advantage of the purely plant-based delicacies is that many more people can access them - regardless of whether they are vegan, lactose intolerant or allergic to chicken egg protein.
So, let's get into the baking fun!
Wash apples, core and grate coarsely with the peel. Mix with sugar and rum, cover and let stand for a few hours. Sift the flour with baking soda and gingerbread spice. Cut dried plums into cubes with raisins and nuts and mix into the flour. Stir marinated apples well with flour mixture. With wet hands, form Striezel of any size. Place on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake in a preheated oven at 175°C for about an hour.
