Spa Museum

Only a few minutes walk from us is the spa museum. The spa museum opens on Monday, at 16:00 and on Sunday, at 10:00. 390 years of spa tradition have written history in Bad Tatzmannsdorf. In the establishment and design of the spa museum, Dir. Helmut Sillner, the custodian of the spa, has taken on the task of vividly conveying the development of the spa to interested spa guests and local residents by means of pictorial material and representational exhibits. In a separate room the village development of the place is represented. One focal point is the "Habsburg Room", which is dedicated to the imperial couple Franz Joseph I and Elisabeth of Austria. It contains extensive pictorial material and valuable personal objects.

Schlaining castle

Schlaining Castle is only about 10 km away from Bad Tatzmannsdorf. There you have the opportunity to see many different exhibitions. The castle is open from Monday to Friday and on public holidays from 10:00 - 16:00. Schlaining Castle, which dates back to the 13th century, is undoubtedly one of the most impressive and best-preserved castles in Austria. Since 1983, Schlaining Peace Castle has been an internationally renowned reference site for non-violent conflict resolution, where experts for global civilian peace missions within the framework of the UN are trained and educated. Since 2000, Schlaining Castle has also been home to the "European Museum for Peace", an important collection on the history of war and peace, the causes of war and conditions for peace, as well as the prevention of violence and peacebuilding.

Zickentaler Moor

About 32 km away from our resort is the Zickentaler Moor. An adventure trail leads you around the moor, where you can visit various stations. At any time you can visit the moor in Rohr, but if you have a guided tour by a moor guide you can book it in the period from mid-April to 26 October with a reservation. The nature reserve "Auwiesen Zickenbachtal" is the largest fen in the Pannonian region. The bog is 12,000 years old and therefore a witness to a truly fantastic flora and fauna. Rare, often endangered plants and animals find their protected habitat here. The wetlands in the Zickental valley in southern Burgenland are a paradise for nature enthusiasts and an experience for the whole family. There is also an audio guide from the "Hearonymus" available for download.

Güssing castle

A 45-minute drive takes you to Güssing Castle. The oldest castle in Burgenland, built in 1157 as a fortified complex, is enthroned on a long-extinct volcanic cone. After several changes of ownership, it came into the possession of the Batthyány family in 1524. In the 16th and 17th centuries it was expanded into a brick-walled fortress to defend against dangers from the east. With the loss of its strategic importance, the castle was abandoned to decay in the 18th century. Since 1870 it has been owned by a foundation. After extensive restoration work, the castle now presents itself in the same condition as 200 years ago.
From 2000 to 2003, the exhibition at the castle was redesigned with the castle's own art treasures, the Illig Collection from Schlaining Castle and private loans. In 20 exhibition rooms, 5,000 exhibits bring the past to life.

Uhudler wine regions

The Uhudler is descended from American vines. It is a direct carrier and a pure natural product. Ringing names such as Ripatella, Delaware, Concordia and Elvira are ungrafted varieties, so-called direct carriers, which have been here for over 100 years. And the wine pressed even then received the name "Uhudler" from the wives of the winegrowers, because the look after excessive consumption resembles an "eagle owl".
Around Bad Tatzmannsdorf are the villages of Heiligenbrunn, Eltendorf, Moschendorf and Eisenberg there the Uhudler is at home and can be tasted and purchased in all establishments marked with the conspicuous Uhudler flag.

Tree top walk Althodis

About 20 km away from Bad Tatzmannsdorf you can find the tree top walk Althodis. There you can look at the beautiful nature from about 20 meters high. The path leads through the Geschriebenstein nature park. In airy heights you move through the treetops, enjoy the magnificent view and listen to the most diverse bird voices. In airy heights you can experience nature and take home unforgettable impressions of it.
