3000th guided tour of the Bad Tatzmannsdorf spa museum with Dir. Helmut Sillner

On May 18, 2025, a special chapter in the history of the Bad Tatzmannsdorf spa museum was opened: Helmut Sillner, the tireless curator and founder of the museum, gave his 3,000th guided tour of the town's 400-year spa history. This impressive figure not only represents decades of dedication, but also his passion for the development of the place and the people who spend valuable time here.

Since the opening of the spa museum in the Quellenhof of the current REDUCE health resort on November 30, 1990, Helmut Sillner has built up and continuously expanded the museum's collection . His passion has been to enrich the museum with historical evidence such as photographs, objects and documents that bring the unique spa tradition of Bad Tatzmannsdorf to life.

But Helmut Sillner is much more than a curator - he is a real entertainer. His humorous and lively guided tours are legendary among visitors to Bad Tatzmannsdorf. Why it was once recommended to drink 16 glasses of sour water a day or what the "mysterious light at the springs" was all about is explained. Even beyond the spa museum, Sillner was always a committed ambassador for his adopted home town. For decades, he accompanied guests to the most beautiful excursion destinations in southern Burgenland, organized hiking tours and thus made it possible to experience the cultural and natural diversity of the region. His passion for exercise was also reflected in his love of cycling - until a few years ago, he was an enthusiastic cyclist.
Today, at the proud age of 94, Helmut Sillner is still active as a dedicated museum guide. Every Sunday, he takes interested guests on a journey through time - full of energy, joie de vivre and authenticity. "Helmut Sillner is the living memory of our spa town. His tireless commitment to preserving our history is an invaluable treasure for Bad Tatzmannsdorf," emphasizes Andreas Leitner, Managing Director of the REDUCE Health Resort Bad Tatzmannsdorf.
"The feeling of being needed by people and being able to ensure that history is carried on instead of gathering dust," says Sillner , citing his greatest motivation. He will continue to fascinate visitors on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. with his humorous stories and anecdotes from the dazumal .
