New photovoltaic system for energy supply

The roof surfaces of twelve buildings in the REDUCE health resort are used to generate local solar power. For energy generation, 2066 solar modules were installed on approx. 3765 m². The health resort itself and the five connected hotels require a constant power supply all year round. This is particularly complex and extensive due to requirements such as air conditioning or heating in therapy and swimming areas, but also in the preparation of the remedies.

For this reason, the path towards renewable energy was taken years ago. Since 2015, CO²-neutral district heating has been obtained from the biomass heating plant in Bad Tatzmannsdorf. By investing in a high-performance photovoltaic system, a further milestone was reached in terms of climate neutrality for the renowned leading company. 100 percent of the energy generated is fed directly into the company's own building complex. This means that 20 percent of the company's own energy requirements can be covered by the system. From an economic point of view, the total investment paid for itself in 3.5 years, taking into account approved subsidies. Even in the first year of operation, the energy costs saved amounted to approx. 84,000 euros.

Reduce: Appreciative approach to nature and the environment

The project also included the installation of a total of 16 e-charging points for electric cars, which are also fed by the photovoltaic system. In this way, the necessary requirements in terms of e-mobility are met. Guests can take advantage of this charging option in the 4* superior spa hotels as well as in the spa hotels.
