Status of compatibility with the requirements

This website is partially compliant with conformance level AA of the "Web Content Accessibility Guidelines - WCAG 2.1" or with the applicable European Standard EN 301 549 V3.2.1 (2021-03) according to Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council due to the following incompatibilities and exceptions.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is not barrier-free for the following reasons:

a. Incompatibility with the accessibility regulations

  • Lower color contrasts: With the cookie banner
  • Keyboard navigation & focus highlighting: In the calendar in the booking tool and in the chat module, the keyboard focus is not always possible.
  • Heading structure: Some headings are not correctly labeled.
  • ALT texts: Some images do not contain any alternative texts or do not contain meaningful alternative texts.
  • Touch target areas are too close together: With mobile navigation, the areas are too close together and operation is therefore more difficult.
  • Forms and error messages: Error messages are currently not correctly captured by screen readers (aria-describedby). An extended technical adaptation and update are already being planned.
  • HTML & semantics: Some landmark elements are missing, which makes orientation more difficult for screen reader users.
  • Compatibility with screen readers: Due to partially missing or incorrect aria-label and "skip-to-content" links, the use of screen readers is not optimal.

b. Disproportionate burden

  • Moving content (videos, animations, sliders): Not all content can be stopped.
  • PDF documents: Older PDF documents were created before the accessibility requirements came into force and are therefore not accessible.

We will endeavor to make future documents and videos accessible. For existing content, we offer accessible alternatives on request.

c. The contents do not fall within the scope of the applicable legal provisions

  • Archived content: Older PDF files and multimedia content published before June 28, 2025 are not accessible.
  • External content and embedded third-party services: Content from third-party providers is not accessible.

Preparation of the accessibility declaration

This declaration was created on 20.05.2025.

The declaration was prepared on the basis of a manual valuation carried out by third parties.

Enforcement proceedings

If you do not receive a satisfactory response from the above contact option, you can submit a complaint to the Complaints Office of the Austrian Research Promotion Agency with Limited Liability (FFG). The FFG accepts complaints electronically via the complaints office contact form.

The complaints are examined by the FFG to determine whether they relate to violations of the provisions of the Web Accessibility Act, in particular deficiencies in compliance with the accessibility requirements, by the federal government or an institution attributable to it.

If the complaint is justified, the FFG must make recommendations for action to the federal government or the legal entities concerned and propose measures to remedy the deficiencies.
